Adamo chaffing!

Okay I love my new Adamo Road saddle for TT’s, instantly got rid of all my pain, but I did a 50 TT Sunday and rubbed my inner groin pretty bad, scabbed up and real sore.

Is this because it’s so wide, anyone got any solutions, does anyone use tape or anything?

I used that saddle for 3 years, every year during peak IM training I would get a saddle sore in the same spot where it rubbed my inner thigh.
I tried everything, zip ties, bending the rails, loads of lube, the only things that seemed to work was riding really far off the nose and getting a Sitero. The saddle sore went away and no more rubbing.

Having 3 adamos, riding the whole year and out of a sudden I got probs. hardening and swelling bout an inch away from the no sun spot. Cured the right side, this weekend happend on the left but this time a little open.
No real explain here other than maybe the long shorts are not tight enough, different pad whatsoever.
Like the adamo the most with tri shorts/thin pad.

Had the same experience. Rode the Adamo Road for 3000km without issues and all of a sudden got severe chafing a couple of weeks out from IM Sweden. Changed immidiately back to my old Selle T1. Now Im using a Cobb Max which seems to suit me just fine.

Was thinking switching back to the romin til it all went away, but on this I get numb (on the Cobb max also). Damnit, rode through all the shitty weather and now laying butt up while sun is shining.

Some say you need to sit farther forward on it to avoid this, so you could try sliding the saddle back on the seat clamp and sitting on the very tip.

that never worked for me though, had the same problem as you, after about 30 minutes inside of thigh would start to get sore.

switched to one of the cobb vflow saddles. That was finally “the answer” for me.

seat forward on the saddle!

I’ve been trying the Adamo since the beginning of the year, mostly on the trainer it was fine. Now that I’ve been getting some outdoor rides in I have the same problem but only when I’m aero which is most of the time. I thought at first it was the Pearl Izumi AmFibs I was wearing but no, that seat it wide for me and anything over 30 miles caused severe discomfort , chaffing and sores. I’m going back to my Romin for now and may have to try the cobb’s and some others. My Romin never got uncomfortable till about 80 miles sometimes.

Try this.

I currently ride the Adamo Racing II (past 18 months), and have recently tried the Fizik Tritone (4x 1hr trainer ride), Sitero (4x 1hr trainer ride), and Cobb VFlow Maxx (1x 1hr trainer ride). The Adamo is the best of the bunch (for me) as far as I can tell. I do get “pressure points” with the Adamo. It’s not your typical chaffing like you might get with a wetsuit on your neck, but it’s more like a faster forming saddle sore. The Sitero either causes numbness (sitting further back), or just plain hurts if I sit where I think I aught to (probably too narrow). The Cobb felt like it would cause even worse/more traditional chaffing and generally felt too squishy. The Fizik seemed to be a better fit, and might be slightly better over the long term, but as it is my body is more adapted to the Adamo. It too felt like it would have the same pressure point issue as the Racing II does and possibly inner thigh chaffing due to the way the nose gets wider at the end. I have tried the traditional style tri saddle, albeit it wasn’t a high quality one and it was only for a short time - that was a Vision trimax saddle that came OEM on my 2012 speedconcept 7.2. That was both numbness and pain even during TT’s as short at 10 miles.

I was hoping to find my perfect saddle the same way I did for my road saddle… pretty much love at first sight/sit, but have had zero luck so far. On the roadie I ride the Specialized Romin and have nothing but good things to say about it. Currently I’m resigned to riding the Racing II as it’s the best I’ve found. Pain/chaffing/pressure points seem to be part of the bargain for me. Am I just not giving new saddles enough time to tell if they’ll be better?

I’ve been on a Adamo for a few seasons and was dealing with the same issue. Ended up having to have minor surgery last year to remove tissue which ended up being diagnosed as this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidradenitis_suppurativa

Starting to develop it again this year after a New England winter of consistent 2+ hour indoor sweatfests on the bike. No matter how clean your bibs are or how fast you jump in the shower post ride it happens. Never flares up on me when I ride outdoors mainly because the sweat evaporates more.

I’ve also done the zip tied rails thing but ultimately the sweat you create in hour one just gets into your pores over the next 90+ minutes. Very gross stuff and not a fun surgery, and surprisingly my wife was less than sympathetic.

I’ve just started using a Cobb JOF saddle with pretty good luck so far. (I’m dialing in the position now.) I haven’t ridden an Adamo, but the JOF is a narrower width at the nose which may help.
