Additionally, since some downward force (weight) is needed for the tires to have traction with the floor; in zero-g trying to power a bicycle via rolling resistance would be futile.

Ironic that one of the researchers was Anoop Grewal. Alexi Grewal won Road Cycling Gold at the 1984 Olympics. Many here in Colorado felt that Alexi was in “Zero Gravity.”
I raced against Alexi’s father in the Vet’s division, who was nationally ranked, but unlike Alexi, he had his feet firmly on the ground.
