Bloody mary recipe? other good drinks? UPDATE: whiskey sour is where it's at!

I’m a beer guy, but have a hankering to branch out a little this spring and summer. I plan to make a stop at the local firewater stand and purchase some supplies on the way home. Got some good recipes? Before any of you start with “scotch, neat”, I can’t stomach it. I do like gin and tonic (Bombay Sapphire or Hendricks). What do you have?

Made a whiskey sour out of some Maker’s Mark I had lying around (used it in an apple pie). Man, these are good! The Bloody Mary was alright, but not 100% up my alley.

I like bloody marys especially in the summer. I just use low-end vodka, normally Svedka. I use spicy V8 to start, a splash of worcestershire sauce, a small tsp of real horseradish, celery salt, and Tobasco sauce depending on how spicy you like it. Oh yeah, a little dollop of A1 Steak sauce. Garnish with olives; I prefer them stuffed with jalapeños.

google “spicy michelada.” If you like beer and bloody mary’s you should like that.

If you like gin and tonic, try a vodka and tonic. I had a ginger infused vodka and tonic that was awesome but I’m too lazy to infuse my vodka at home.

Coming several days late to the party, but if you pass by that firewater stand again, and if you like the snap of ginger beer, try a Moscow Mule (vodka and ginger beer) or a Dark n’ Stormy (traditionally made with Black Seal rum and Goslings ginger beer). They’re both delicious.

Manhattans and Old Fashioneds
.

Glass of ice
Squeeze one whole lime
2 oz reposado tequila
1 oz orange liqueur
Splash ginger ale to top it off

Great a refreshing summer drink.

I like to keep it simple. Gin & Tonics or Manhattans 90% of the time for me.

If I want to mix it up, I’ve been enjoying this one:

2.5 oz good cuban white rum
3/4 oz triplesec
3/4 oz lime juice

Shake, pour into a martini glass and sink a dollop of Chambord to the bottom.
