Galveston rolldowns

Business as usual or did they roll way down like Oceanside?

Business as usual or did they roll way down like Oceanside?

Mainly business as usual. I’d say they rolled down a touch more than Vegas in some groups and as little to “non at all” in other groups.

In 45-49, there were three slots and the fast guys did not take them. If I recall correctly, the next three rolled down to 9th or 10th. I was 14th and it was fun watching this as one of the guys who was 13th was really getting excited and I was really hoping for him as he is vastly improved over last year. Also at Timberman and Muskoka, both within driving range of Tremblant, last fall, each had 100 slots and not that much roll down at all. Too bad I could not make it to Oceanside last week (I was actually even in California all of race week). Sometimes you’re in the right place, sometimes in the wrong place. The reality is, that the best way to have a shot at a 70.3 WC spot is to podium in 45-49 (at least we generally get 3 slots…many age groups you have to win).

Men’s 40-44 had 3 slots, 2 rolled down. 4th (Dave Mirra) and 5th place took them.

Wife took her slot in f 30-34 and she was 2nd. Not sure what the first place chick did

Just another data point, but I believe W50-54 had one slot. Taken by first place.

40-44 also got one more slot at the end of the rolldown sessin. One other guy and I stuck around but he was 11th and I was 14th so he got the slot. Grrrr! >:-(

Have to get it in Kansas, I guess.

This is so good to know. I was 5th in that division and had my 80 yo mother w/ me so I didn’t want to go and make her sit through all that. I talked w/ 4th place and I knew she didn’t want it. But I was pretty sure it wouldn’t get down to me. I’m so relieved it didn’t roll down at all.
Thanks.

How about 35-39 male…how many slots and how much did it roll down?

I can’t remember if a slot rolled at all, but if it did it only rolled to the very next person. 35-39 was over in a flash. 40-44 was the only men’s division with any suspense that I saw.

They did not roll far at all. Both male and female. With almost 2,400 finishers it was a really deep and close race.

I believe M25-29 went to 2nd and 3rd…

Anyone know about M18-24? Almost always one slot, just wondering if it rolled down at all.

I read on the website it was 40 total slots, but yeah for 2300+ competitors, that’s not alot
