Garmin Uploads Taking Forever - Then no Data

All of a sudden my Garmin 910 XT is taking forever to upload fitness data and then when I go to Garmin Connect the data isn’t there. Just waited over an hour to upload 2 workouts (thought maybe the watch was updating) and I’m having no luck. Anyone else having issues uploading Garmin data? I’m on a Mac but I don’t think that has anything to do with it.

My 310xt was doing something similar after indoor workouts. Turned out it was not keeping the time or date correctly, and the workouts were getting assigned to 2007. Returned the watch to REI and got the 910, haven’t had the problem after. No idea if that is what your watch is doing, but my .02!

You need to regularly dump old data off the 910xt or it will start doing this. Its frustrating.

Every 2 weeks or so I clear the history. Apparently when its looking for data to upload it scans the whole thing, so it can take a while if you have a lot of old data on it.

x2. This is what I was thinking as well.

No issue with my 910 and uploading. And I don’t delete my old data either.

This is a long shot but it’s happened to me twice before. Check if your 2 workouts are the first in time workout you have uploaded, not your most recent workouts in garmin connect. For some reason, sometimes my 910xt dates the workout to like 1995.

Also, just do a quick 5 second workout, reset, and see if it uploads the 5 second workout with your other 2 workouts. I had to do this a couple of times also and that seemed to work for me.

Did a quick search for you…See if this addresses your issue.

Sounds like it was resolved, but for others reading this I had a similar issue.

The problem ended up being a “bad workout”. Not bad in the sense that it didn’t go well, but bad in the sense that the data had been corrupted and Garmin upload couldn’t get past it. I deleted all my old workouts that had already been uploaded and that didn’t work. I then went into each workout starting with the oldest and manually entered the data into Trainingpeaks and then deleted it. Next I tried to upload to Garmin connect.

After I deleted the 2nd workout everything was fine, uploaded no problem. So that worked for me, YMMV.

Your 310xt did that because you probable didn’t turn the GPS off soon enough and when it couldn’t find satellites, it reverted back to 2007. My guess is the code for the 310 was written in 2007. The 310 checks the time and date from the satellites. All you needed to do was take the 310 outside and let it lock onto the satellites and it would have corrected itself.

I tried everything you suggested and still had issues. Would turn off GPS the moment the screen appeared. Contacted Garmin who said it is a known issue in some 310’s.
