Help me build a frankenbike for a good cause

Hey everyone. I am trying to build a frankenbike for a friend who would like to ride the Trek Across Maine this year. I am donating a frame with stem, handlebars, seatpost, and seat. I also have a triple Ultegra FD that could be used, as well as a mega-exo bottom bracket. My friend doesn’t have the cash to buy a bike and I thought since he is willing to raise 600+ dollars for a good cause if he can get a bike I should see what I could do. Ultimately if this goes no where it’s no big deal. If anyone has a tiagra or even sora groupo they are willing to part with or sell on the reallllly cheap that would be great. Any wheels would be great too. That’s basically all I need. I will buy new cables and housings for the bike to get him riding. If this fails I am going to go to my LBS that I visit (what feels like daily) and see if they can help. Thanks for any help you are able to give. I really want to see my friend ride 180 miles over the course of 3 days. He claims he can do it without training :slight_smile: Thanks again. Cheers - Jeff

What do you consider really cheap?

I have enough training wheels that I could outfit a 6-9 person bike team. Not really sure how I got so many either. A great mystery of life. If you don’t mind non matching wheels, I don’t mind getting rid of a few super cheap.

If Izzyfuld doesn’t sell to you, I’d consider selling a probably identical Sora/Tiagra group, that incidentally came off my Allez after 3 years of use.

What do you guys consider a fair price for that groupo? does it have crank and brakes or is it just shifters and derailleurs?
