Help starting triathlon/adventure camps/classes

My wife and a friend of hers have been conducting triathlon training classed 2 x week for about 5 years and our local health club. These run in about 8 week cycles and they get lots of repeat and new participants.

Their club doesn’t pay them much(based upon how much the customer has to pay to join the class) so they want to break out and do this on their own. They are both ACE certified. They would like to eventually offer mountain bike classes/instruction and possibly 3-4 overnight camps. Their target audience is (at least those who sign up for their classes now) those 35ish and older and new to triathlon.

How should they go about getting this set up? My biggest concern is insurance–who could/would provide insurance for this?

Thanks

Sounds like lots of homework in front of you. I’d suggest calling similar camps already in place, but outside of your region so they don’t feel threatened to get some insight.
Are there other things like sky diving / bungee jumping nearby that you could ask about how they handle insurance?
Should also call a few insurance companies for their thoughts as they would know state laws and such.
score.org is a good site if your wife and friend are serious as these are executives willing to give free advice.
Get a free consult from some attorneys as well while your at it.
I’m sure your state also has a getting started list for those wishing to open a new business. Business name, fed id number, etc…

Good luck.
