How often do you eat out?

Lucy and I go out at least once a week. Sometimes more, but the second meal “out” is usually stopping and picking something up.

I went out with a friend from high school. He had no idea how to act in a restaurant. It was foreign to him. He had no idea how to pay or what to tip. I know he is very low on the income spectrum, but is it normal to not understand how the system works. He’s 51.

Bout once a week for supper. also pick up a couple of lunches out during the week if i dont have anything to bring to work

Once or twice a month maybe. Eating at a restaurant means getting a babysitter. All of a sudden it becomes a very expensive dinner, regardless of where we go…

My dogs can stay home alone.

Usually once a week, on a Friday when we just can’t be bothered to cook after a long week.
We’ve been falling in to a habit of dining with one other couple and we just end up spending way too much. Going out for dinner turned in to drinks before dinner, going out for a dinner where they’re always pushing the “oh lets just order a bunch of stuff and wine for the table” then dessert… and they like doing this every week. Freakin’ waste of money. We had to put a stop to it.

There are a ton of places we can get amazing food plus a drink each for $50-60 between the two of us. Going overboard can easily triple that, and honestly, it’s not like we’re enjoying ourselves 3 times as much because of it!

To often, but less and less.

Actual sit down meals with the whole family, probably once a week or more. I think we’ve cut down considerably since we hit a normal “School” schedule this year.

Between all the “Special needs” in the family it’s just easier to eat at home. My MIL, who lives in the house right in front of us and sometimes comes along, was recently diagnosed with celiacs, son is T1D and wife is a vegan…trying to find some place that everyone can eat is a night mare

Certainly not “Normal” in fact rare, but quite frankly pretty interesting in the sense that it must have been years since he’s been in a restaurant. Impressive in today’s day and age.

Now that D’Kid no longer needs a sitter, it’s become more often; in the once or twice a month range, whereas before it would be once every three months or so

We also have more gym-dates, swim-dates, & bike-dates

Amazing food? How is it amazing?

Way too often. Wife and I work for the same company, we eat lunch together almost every day and only pack 2 or 3 times a week. We also have a semi-tradition of going out for breakfast once a weekend after sleeping in. Then add in the times we go out to dinner or get pizza and it is probably a total of 20 times a month.

But my parents would have answered virtually never. I doubt they went out to eat more than twice a year.

Maybe three or four times a year. My mom takes us to our (wife and I) favorite restaurant http://www.tucanos.com/ during our birthday month; we’re on the “birthday list” and get our meals free as long as someone else pays for theirs. Then her parents will occasionally take us when they visit, at least half of their meals are at a restaurant. If it was on our own, pretty much never.

Half of my business meetings take place at restaurants, but I never eat. Yeah, I’m one of those guys.

We eat out way to often as well. Lunch for me 1-2 times per week. We always go out for dinner on Friday, but since we have a 2 year old, it has to be kid friendly, so not too expensive. Maybe pizza take out once every other week.

I’m trying hard not to gain weight while my back heals, so I’ve been curbing the eating out. As long as I’m willing to cook my husband doesn’t care. We also do group potluck type meals with friends, usually on Saturday nights. I do the main dish & the bachelors bring sides/desserts/drinks.

That’s annoying on a primordial level.

Dude, relax. Don’t go all cray-cray on me.

As soon as I read your reply I realized what I had typed and thought “Dammit… I’ve become one of those people”. Thanks for pointing it out. It really is annoying.

Several times per week. Lunch two or three times, dinner once, breakfast once.

Have you seen this high school friend since high school? Maybe he was confused.

About 8-10 times a week. My wife and I both hate cooking, and we don’t have kids.

Lunch every day.
Usually we go out Friday and Saturday night and then at least one of our lunches will be out on the weekend. Occasionally we’ll go out once for dinner mid week.

Does Starbucks count?

The Wife and I make sure to have at least 1 date a week, which most of the time means eating out. If her parents want to do something (weekly to biweekly), it typically also involves eating out. Rare is the week that we’ll eat out more than twice.

Exact opposite for us…my parents went out every Friday, and often on the weekends. They still eat out a couple times a week now.

DH and I go out maybe 3-4 times a year, if that.

You guys are really missing out by not having kids. You should fill the gaping maw in your heart with a couple of crumbsnatchers!
