Hi all. I need to replace both my road shoes and my tri shoes. I have decided to go with high end tri shoes and use them all the time. Does any one have any input on comparing these two models? THANKS
Can’t comment on the mavic shoe but I can say that I’ve used the LG tri300 since december of 2012. Not just for tri, but the vast majority of my riding (there may have been an occasional cold ride where I grabbed my old road shoes which have less vents).
The heat molding made the shoe fit pretty snug on my heel, which feels good, my foot definitely pops into place in the shoe. Its only one strap, and I had to trim some length off of it cause my feet are apparently skinny and when I’m barefoot, the strap would dangle into crank/chain, but it was an easy 1-minute trim job. The forefoot is pretty loose, but I personally like that feeling, you can easily wiggle your toes around in the toe box. Some people want the shoe to grab more in the fore foot, and there really is no way to achieve that with this shoe cause there is no strap up front. You may like the Mavic more in that respect cause it does have a little strap up front.
Shoes have held up well, including a few dings from falls, the front of the outer toe area has a few scrapes, but not too bad. the white inner liner is definitely not white anymore, but I wasn’t expecting it to stay porcelain white.
All in all, no complaints on build quality or anything, but you may want to at least test fit a pair to see if you are ok without the front strap.
thanks for the info
