Suspended without pay after soliciting boys online, but he should have been fired long ago. I know this a BFE town, but come on, 400 lbs. There is a minimum fitness standard in this state to maintain certification.
Wonder what his thoughts would be on the weight class thread?
wondering what is his FTP in W/kg… 0.5 W/kg ? maybe less ?..
The only thing this bozo is competing is competitive eating. That and fishing. Fishing for boys.
Unfortunately this is common here in florida. I posted a thread from Chipotle where I saw a cop in uniform that had to weight 300 - 400 lbs. I’m horrible about judging weight after a certain point.
Trust me, I feel your pain as I live in Florida too.
Man, I didn’t realize I posted it here in the Triathlon area (twice none the less), but I guess it is fitness (or lack there of) related.
Something is wrong with my computer.
My Uncle was a 350 pound cop who had to work with a partner. Apparently it’s hard to outrun a car, a radio that can call other cops to come help and a partner.

It’s always the skinny ones who dominate competitive eating.
I thought this thread was going to be about this cop who has major potential in a sprint tri. This vid is going viral right now.

EASY eat a lot of donuts for breakfast, burgers for lunch, and guzzle beers while soliciting little boys online after dinner.
I’m so sick of seeing fat cops. I go to Chipotle 2-3x a week to supplement my salt intake (kidding… sort of… not really) and every time I’m there I see three to four cops all of whom would be considered clinically obese.
Minimum qualification standard should be something like a sub 9 minute mile, 5 pullups, and 15 pushups. That is far from unreasonable.

You have seen this to.
Funny thing, about a year ago, I posted while at chipotle another cop that had to be somewhere between 300 - 400 lbs. I can’t tell after a certain point. The other guys weren’t exactly lean either. But I’m sure they could pass a requirement.
I once joked with my wife one day when we were going to lunch together. We were behind a firetruck going away from the firehouse with no lights on. She said, “where are they going” I said I bet they are going to Chipotle". They did. She asked how I knew. I said every time I go there there is either a group of firemen or cops on there. Usually overweight cops.
Union cops in Gulfport, Fl actually accepted negotiated lower pay raises this year in return for relaxed physical fitness standards. You know it’s gotten bad when the cops give up money so they don’t have to work out. By contrast, the ST crowd would be asking for salaries tied to their IM times with bonuses for a KQ.

WOW and of course

Actually the national standard was established by the Cooper Institute and is based on what they determined to be the ability of an average American, sadly you are way off on your running estimate. The test is a 1.5 mile run in under 16:39 (or something like that), a 300 meter “sprint” in under 75 seconds, a 16" vertical jump (who knows why that’s important), 29 sit-ups in a minute (the old way of doing sit-ups that are now known to be bad for you), and 25 push-ups with no time limit.
While many departments require officers to meet this standard when they are hired, most don’t require them to ever do it again. We are required to attempt it yearly where I work, but we don’t have to pass it. It’s good that it’s at least done, it really does motivate a lot of guys to do a little working out when testing time comes around, but it would be better if there was some real incentive to pass (like a pay increase). But in a job where you drive around in a car for 12 hours a day and have to try to solve everyone else’s problems all the time, the stress does tend to drive a lot of people to unhealthy habits. And honestly, when it comes right down to it, outside of Hollywood movies and maybe a few really rough areas in the country, most police rarely have to chase anyone on foot at all. And when you do, a good officer can normally see it coming well in advance and solve the problem before it becomes a problem. I sometimes get called to details out of my beat because the beat officer knows the bad guy will probably run and they want to have their “rabbit” on his tail. You really don’t have to be a physical stud to be a good police officer, some of the best officers I know can’t pass the Cooper fitness test. It’s kinda like how you can still be a great coach when you are too obese to do the sport; if you have the knowledge and experience to know what needs to be done, you can still win championships by telling someone younger and stronger what to do.
How nuts is it that this forum is generally focusing on the fact the guy was a lard arse…
He’s a kiddy fiddler FFS … He should be removed from so Jett just for that … Who cares if he fat or thin… Sick f&ck…
Rant over, thank you for indulging me…

This exactly…and how does this even relate to the Triathlon Forum.

You were so excited by this 400 pounder that you had to create 2 threads in the Tri Forum? Who let you out of the Lavender room?
My friend became a cop in Detroit a couple years ago. He’s 6’2’’ 215 lbs, runs a 4.3 40yd and has a 40 inch vertical :O. I agree that physicality doesn’t necessarily make a good cop, but anyone in a footchase with him is pretty much screwed haha, and that’s happened several times
