Sorry about this one, but the search isn’t giving much away and google and the greater internet seems to be providing confusing and contradictory results.
Osymetric rings, train on them all the time and race on them?
Train on them most of the time, for key sessions, but using a round ringed bike also?
Or, do as has been suggested by Mr Osymetric, train on round and then race on them?
Rotor seem to suggest adaptation for their version of funny shaped rings and not mixing it with round rings.
I know rotor and osymetric are different products but surely they must both have reasons for their logic?
Has anyone actually tested the above and found they prefer it either way?
I wouldn’t overthink it. Last year I had Osy’s on my tri bike and Wickwerks on my road bike… did mostly crits and road races but had no problems going immediately back to my tri bike for TT’s and tri’s.
I currently go back and forth and have never noticed any negatives. Do whatever you THINK will be best.
My experience with Rotor Q-Rings was once I adapted (and it was pretty quick at 2-3 weeks) it felt odd to go back to round rings so I put them on my road bike too. Every so often I got back to round test riding/borrowing/renting a bike and it’s the first thing I miss.
I suppose you could get used to riding both but I am not sure there would be any training benefit to that.
