Anyone else notice a change with their calibration numbers after updating the Quarq firmware? My pre-ride number was mid-low 50s, now its mid-low 80s with very little change with pre & post numbers.
Haven’t tried it yet, but this reminds me of my longstanding criticism of them. Nice that they update firmware to address issues, not nice that there is no change log to tell us what to expect. Mieke@quarq , do you hear me?
How does a firmware update work on a Quarq?
I noticed the update last night and had the same result with my calibration numbers. It was always around 50’s and now I am around 90’s
When did this update come out?
You use an iOS app called Qalvin along with a ANT agent dongle with your Ipad/iPhone to update the firmware.
Garmin 800 is also saying " right powermeter not found". Did a couple of rides Quarq Elsa seems to be working w/o issues.
Not intending to sidetrack the thread, but is it bad that when i manually calibrate, I’m typically in the 300s? its consistent, but high

Three hundreds is fine as long as the values are consistent.
I’ve never been able to get the Qalvin app to work with my iPhone and Quarq Elsa. What does the update for? What does it change, fix, etc…?

Yep, got some strange numbers with doing the calibration with the 910. Also got the message on the right power sensor missing.
Reset the quarq and now calibration numbers are closer to normal but still different than pre-update (-300ish versus -460ish)
Called quarq regarding the missing sensor message. They said it was an issue with Garmin 910 firmware, and it doesn’t affect accuracy of PM.
Did just get done with 3hr CT ride, and PM seems to be reading just fine.

Do you have an ANT+ attachment, like a wahoo key, for your iPhone? That’s the device that picks up the ANT+ signal from your Quarq. If you have a new iPhone5, you will also need a 30 pin to lightning pin adapter too.
I am getting the same error about right sensor missing and I have a garmin edge 800.
Did they say what the update was for?

The guy I spoke with said was general housekeeping. One of the highlights of FW20 was a revision to the low battery algorithm, so that low battery indicator would not come up on your display until it was actually low.
I had noticed that issue prior, where the indicator would come on, when the battery voltage was still fine.
Lol. “General Housekeeping”, yup. It gets dusty and dirty and you’ve got to keep your firmware clean…so nice of Quarq to do that.
now I am afraid of updating it :-/
.
Here’s the reply I got on the wattage forum:

New Quarq firmware out. Anybody know what it changes?
I do.
No big changes this time, but a few small things:
1. The old firmware was drawing too much current in power down, resulting in poor ( < 1 year ) standby time. This has been fixed.
2. Zero offset was drifting a few points after waking up due purely to measurement electronics. We figured out how to measure and remove this drift. Offset stability should be slightly improved.
3. We made some minor tweaks in Ant messaging for better Ant+ compliance.
An effect of #2 is a change in zero offset when the new firmware is installed.
An effect of #3 is the occasional “left power sensor not found” message on certain Garmin head units. I have every expectation that this bug will be fixed at Garmin’s normal bug fixing pace.
Someday we will show a proper change log in Qalvin.

I have also just update to firmware 20 and get the same message on my Garmin Edge 810.
Do you get measurements from both right and left sides ?
yeah, my zero offset got smaller and more stable, at leas on first use yesterday
.
It could be pretty cool if you got a message via Qalvin app on your iphone
that there is a new version of firmware available
.
Slope on my quarq Elsa has changed from 4.94 to 4.75 after updating to version 20.
Is it normal after this update ?
