Crank or handlebars might be next: 6800 11spd compact?
Profile T2 wing base bar with T1+ clip ons?

The ridley phaeton is not really a true TT frame geometry.

Do you mean Phaeton T, R or both?

The most TT i could find for the price, most other TT frames I have found would have blown the budget alone.

Also, will be used alot in the mountains, seems good to have a hill “friendly” bike.

You’re right, the phaeton t is certainly tri geometry. Sounds like a good build. Picture didn’t come through though.

My “budget bike build” would definitely not be 11-speed.

+1 to that.

Go with 10 speed and you’ll be able to have more available on other stuff.

+1 from myself

Been debating with myself on that one, liking the idea of more options for parts over newest gear.

I just moved up to 9-speed. Still have 8-speed on one of my bikes.

ah my mistake. didn’t know the R and T are different bikes.

it looks alright then!

Perhaps the picture didn’t come through, but yes, more or less the same but in black/green.

So, things have gone a bit slow lately, lots of work and no play…

Got the crankset, some Giant P-R2 wheels (to start with), and the basebar(s).

Ordered the PZ basebar:

But then i got this one Vision alloy basebar for about $20, so thought why not…

Now the questions are:

Any recommendations for bar-end brakes?
The Vision ones look nice, and fit the basebar, but don’t like the special brake cable… Have looked at the Cane Creeks and Shimano as alternatives, if they don’t fit the Vision bar I can just use the PZ one…

I am considering getting the Token or Deda clip-ons, simply because I don’t know how long I will have them. Have found some really nice fully integrated aerobars (Trimax Carbon for $150 and Quest Carbon for $100), only issued is they have integrated stem and will lose adjustability…

Any thoughts?

Any brake levers to stay away from is probably the better question?

I see posts popping up from now and then on what NOT to get…
