Speed Concept 9.9 Stem

Bike just arrived at my LBS and friend/mechanic is putting together. I noticed the stem is a little taller than I thought/hoped/wanted (compared to the pics on Trek’s website and TriRig review). I was hoping the aero base bar would be more flush with the top tube. Is there only 1 stem height? My friend seemed to think so and said only 1 came with the bike but there were 4 risers?

Thanks!

There are 6 different stem sizes.

Do I have to order them or should they have come with the bike?

which one did you order? if your bike is PO it comes with all the spacers. stem is a different story.

Stock bikes come with a spec stem based on the frame size. In Project One you can spec the one you want. In either case, only one comes with the bike.

Carl - just a quick one on this. I’m about to order a stock 9.9 - I previously had a 2011 9.9 with the standard stem (I think it was 100/45 on an XL bike) - its the stem on the 2014 XL (standard) similar to the 2011 XL (standard)?? Thanks in advance.

yup. medium-far on the XL.

Yeah. So. The height/length of your stem is dictated by your fit/pad stack and reach numbers. Do you have those? Or are you just trying to set your bike up in some arbitrary manner based on where the base bar is placed relative to the top tube? I’d hope not.
