Training camp with Crowie in Whistler - For 13k

UPrise Performance Camps just announced that Crowie will hold a 4 day training camp in Whistler at the end of June. While it sounds amazing and I was expecting a high price tag for that - the 13,000 CAD blew me away. C’mon it’s a 4 day camp. Sure, you stay in the Four Seasons and whatnot, but that is in my mind truly a rip-off. I have big respect for Crowie, but supporting a rip-off event like that is just ridiculous. It’s limited to 20 people, which means it equals a revenue of 260k. Really?

agree it is overpriced! Not that you will get soo much better after 4 days…money better spend elsewhere! But i am sure that there will be many willing to pay that amount!

Maybe Jessi Stensland will lift a bike over her head again. That could well be worth the price.

What bugs me the most is the support for that nonsense by Crowie. I mean a company trying to rip off triathletes is nothing new. But from a guy who is in the sport and made it all the way up from once starting as an age grouper… Really disappointing.

Come on!

It says right there in black and white in the camp info that they will have you and your equipment working at 110%. That’s going to cut an hour off most athletes’ race times. Who wouldn’t pay $10,000plus to shave an hour off their big race?

I wonder if the average well-off age grouper would significantly enhance their enjoyment of the sport AND get some great training advice at such a camp? No one could make me faster unless they could repair all the injuries I’ve had and give me a new set of non-asthmatic lungs, but some younger guys with intact bodies might benefit. We’ll see. If anyone goes, they should report back on their progress.

I have nothing but respect for the people putting on this shindig. Now it’s time for them to show what they know…The proof of the pudding is in the eating, as they say.

I agree with Timemachine. He speaks the truth; is a triathlon genius; and, looks amazing in lederhosen. Perhaps Crowie does all these things too (although I’m not sure any of that would be included in the base price for this camp); however, for the record, I’m specifically referring to Timemachine.

That’s crazy money. But put it a different way. I bet there are lots of people who would pay to ‘practice’ with a pro football team at their training camp for four days. Crowie’s amongst the best in the sport. You’re paying for access.

If you don’t like the price, don’t pay it…no need to waste tears… On the other hand, I’ll sell you some tissues for half the price…

Exactly…if you can’t afford a lambo, buy a honda…but don’t bitch about the honda, just drive it…

The real question is: is this camp really a lambo, just because a big name is there? Nobody would pay the big $$$ w/o the big name. Which comes down to the fact that its really just about the VIP and not about the training itself. And from my perspective these kind of price politics are more than questionable. To me it doesn’t look like someone is willing to share experience and really ‘help’ people with a camp. Instead it’s making profit with popularity. And I didn’t think Crowie would be up for something like that.

Well, either down the rabbit hole you go…or you realize that a lambo is just superficial, and nobody holds any training secrets…Crowie sells Crowie, not some training package that will secretly grab you a kona slot…you thought he didn’t like money?? He is on the verge of semi-retirement, building equity and a further legacy is the sound plan…

PS…I bet he has some great info and plans…I mean, he does have a degree in kinesiology and a couple pro wins…plenty of completely unqualified “coaches” out there for any activity, but Crowie has a pedigree…

I will be there right around those dates… Maybe I’ll crash one of the “training rides”.

Nah for that price she best be staying in your room. Can teach all the Movement U she wants there.

Did you ever think that maybe the people going to this camp don’t care about money? I am willing to believe that there are at least 20 AGers that have tons of money that would love to ride their bikes with Crowie. This really isn’t meant to be an inclusive camp, but an exclusive chance to hang with a celeb. No different than when lance woudl let you ride with him if you fund raised enough.

Frankly I doubt that anyone going to this camp will be pushing their limits each and everyday, and that’s cool. They’ll walk away with 13K worth of memories and maybe the right to by pass the next line at a WTC event?

Definitely seems overpriced, but it’s limited to 20 people I bet he books the 20 people. Not sure though how many times he can repeat that, $13k isnt alot of money but for a training weekend it sure is.

You can get a really good/well coach training 4 day weekend for $750-$800, so $750-$13,000 is a major difference. So unless Crowie is solving the meaning of life also at the weekend I think it’s overpriced.

$.02

That is a lot. You can almost buy a bike for that much cash.

Doesn’t bother me that he’s supporting this. It’s not like anyone has a gun to their head making them sign-up. And Crowie needs to strike while the iron is hot. In less than 5 years, over half of all people doing long course will not even know who he is. He will always have market value in the industry, but it will definitely depreciate.

Exactly…in total agreement with you. I agree with everyone saying this is expensive…but overpriced? This reminds me of the NPR April Fools article. Are all of you actually looking at what you get or just seeing the price tag for a 4 day camp and commenting? Several things on that list that are easily over 1k. Yes, 13k is a ton compared to most quality 4 day camps. The stay alone at that hotel is probably close to 2k, not to mention all the other crap they’ll be getting. People will pay this price tag, simple. Let me guess, WTC needs to lower the price of all IM races too even though they sell out in record time year after year?
