Since the location of 70.3 worlds is starting to rotate I was very curious to see how many people would claim their guaranteed slots and how many many slots would roll down. I don’t have the specific breakdown of each age group but there were a TON of roll down slots in essentially every age group. Some age groups that had 5-6 slots had maybe 1-2 taken so if you were there at the rolldown event you probably got a spot to Canada.
Good news for all those who are right on the edge of getting slots this year. Always remember to stay through the entire process if you want one!

Interesting that last fall with 100 slots at 70.3 Timberman and Muskoka there were not that many rolldowns. Seems like proximity is factor for Americas.
When I qual’d for Vegas at Muskoka 2012, there were almost zero rolldowns. Maybe Canadians will travel wherever it is, whereas from the west coast the guys may not be as open to travel.
Florida 70.3 will have some fast(er) Canadians in the field looking for spots for the WC in Tremblant.
Same goes for Raleigh and other early East Coast Events.
Florida will most likely not roll as deep as Oceanside.
Must be somewhere between Mont-tremblant 70.3 and Timberman since at MT 70.3 you can qualify for the WC for the same year and Timberman you can qualify for next year WC.
I would assume St. George would have similar roll-downs as Oceanside, and it’s still open.
I was also there for roll-down with some friends on the bubble, and basically, anyone that was there and hung around for roll-down got a slot for MT.
in my age group, M40-44, I passed up a slot and I was only 44th, and the final 40-44 allocation went to a guy that went 5:49.

jesus…
I am doing NOLA but imagine slots might be a little more desireable. I’d jump at at a 70.3 worlds rolldown but MT already conflicts with SOS date for 2014.

SOS is the right choice, every time. That race is epic. One of the coolest things on the planet.
i would just skip the rolldown if I were you or anyone else 35-39…the fact im 35 and probably on the edge with a decent race has nothing to do with it. oh yeah, did i mention i was already planning a new england vacation that time of year not a factor either…
I wonder how many rolldown spots there will be at Texas 70.3 this weekend in the M30-34 AG? At what point do you realize there isn’t a chance in hell, might as well skip it and get a beer. I’m usually a middle of the packer.
