Christian rock band is successful. Gives credit to Jesus

I just found this a bit amusing, only because of the profoundness of the statement (or rather, lack there of).

I know a couple who tried for years to make it as a main stream rock band (with 3 musicians). They were actually pretty good and even won a radio contest in New Jersey. A couple of years ago they called it quits and joined a Christian rock band (I had no idea they were religious).

Anyway, the band recently hit the top 50 of the Christian rock charts (good for them!). One of the band members tweeted, “My whole life I’ve always wanted to be in a band that made it onto the charts. Now I’ve finally done that, and I couldn’t have done it without Jesus.”

Yes, I would expect that Jesus is a necessary component in making it as a Christian rock musician. = )

Sour grapes, aye Barry?

???

If you read my post, I said I was happy for them. That’s the opposite of sour grapes.

I was commenting on “I couldn’t have done it without Jesus.” That’s like saying, “I couldn’t have opened a successful pizza shop without pizza.”

Barry, many professing Christians thank God for whatever comes there way. In this dark world, the guy is just thanking God for something good, is this that difficult for you to understand? Based on so many of the tweets I see and I am sure you see, even tho your not a believer, isn’t this something positive or good. put your happy face on.

Bono said that in 1980

Bono was thanking himself?

Okay, I’m going to try really hard and avoid explaining myself 50 times.

They hit the Christian rock charts and said, “couldn’t have done it without Jesus.”…get it? Christian rock charts? Jesus? Obvious link between the two? Unprofound humorus statement?

If it wasn’t for water I wouldn’t be wet?

"put your happy face on. "

Its on, dude. That’s why I wrote:

"Anyway, the band recently hit the top 50 of the Christian rock charts** (good for them!).** "

But what happens to christian rockers who don’t thank Jesus? Seems they try to hire an under cover cop to kill their estranged wives while doped to the gills on steroids. Can’t make this kind of shit up.

Cook: Need I say with over much emphasis that it is in the leg division that you are deficient.
Moore: The leg division?
Cook: Yes, the leg division, Mr Spiggott. You are deficient in it to the tune of one. Your right leg, I like. I like your right leg. A lovely leg for the role. That’s what I said when I saw you come in. I said, “A lovely leg for the role”. I’ve got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is – neither have you.

I’m well aware of that story.

I actually used to be somewhat of a fan. They had a couple of good songs. I saw them live at a festival and the roided up front man turned me off…….then he tried to have his wife murdered.

I have 3 or 4 of their albums, never have seen them live. But was blown away when this all went down as I was living in Oceanside at the time.

I think you’re missing the point - it’s not like a pizza place thanking pizza because pizza is the product of a pizza place.

Jesus is not their product - it’s the source of their inspiration and etc.

It would be like a pizza place thanking their customers, or thanking those (ie parents) who started the business or what whatever inspires them.

Speaking of rocket science - it’s NOT like rocket scientists thanking rockets - but they might thank centrifugal force which is a lot like Jesus.

You mean because it tends to make you fly way off center?

Anyway, it’s instructive to note here that modern physicists consider “centrifugal force” to be “fictitious.”

I don’t care either way, but I think in this instance Jesus IS their product. I haven’t listened to any of their music but I’m going to guess he plays a significant part of the material

Admittedly, I don’t listen to a lot of Christian rock, but in the small sample size I’ve listened to, Jesus is both the inspiration, and the product.

Jesus is not their product - it’s the source of their inspiration and etc.

I’m pretty sure Jesus is also the product.

ironical, you got sucked into my fly off center (thread) trick . . .

As I recall it is seen less as a force and more like inertia - but now I digress.

Why is Jesus like centrifugal force?

And would Barry get upset if a YoYo master thanked centrifugal force? What if a cello player thanked Jesus?

They thank Jesus for everything. Thank Jesus for giving them the opportunity to thank Jesus. Without thanking Jesus, they wouldn’t have the ability to thank Jesus. Therefore, they thank Jesus for being Jesus and giving them the chance to thank Jesus and sing about thanking Jesus.
