Curious if anyone has done this race before or has any feedback on the course, race promoter (Team Magic) etc? I know that there used to a close association with Powerman Alabama. Thanks.
My son and I raced it last year. Overall it was fun.
The run was a mix of road and trail.
The bike was fairly hilly and curvey (nothing big - just lots of them)
The only “bad” part of the races was the start times.
They started the sprint distance shortly after the standard distance so the sprint leaders caught the slower standard racers on the trail where you could not pass.
I raced the standard distance last year and I thought it was a good race. The first run starts uphill on a road then turns into rolling hills and then the last mile or two is on a single track trail. The bike is two loops of rollers, I was not in great bike shape at the time and I was definitely feeling the last loop. My biggest complaint with the bike is that I was having to pass a ton of sprint athletes who were going very slow and riding all over the road which made it a little dangerous passing. The 2nd run is a reverse of the first run but cut short making it a 5k. It was nice doing two different run courses to mix things up. Overall good race and well run and organized. I do wish the overall depth of the field would have been a bit stronger but besides that no other complaints.
