How cold is your pool?

The pool that I swim at usually is at 84 degrees, which I find to be too warm but its the closest pool from home so I deal with it. Last week the boiler broke and temps are falling. Swam at 74 degrees yesterday and 72 degrees today. Next workouts are Friday and Sunday and chances are it will not be fixed by then so temps likely will be in the upper 60s. I found the low 70s to be chilly for the first two laps and just about perfect for the bulk of the workout. How cold is your pool?

78* + - 1 degree. 365 days a year. Schwinggg.

Man I wish our boiler broke. 84-85F year round. Temp on deck varies from 60F-90F depending on the time of year.

In high school the pool was 76-78F. Felt great. It took a good 8-10 minutes to get warm. But htat was Michigan, they understand swimming. Not so much in Iowa. Here the old ladies floating around doing aquacise classes pretending to get a workout have priority. They’d have it 90F if they could.

Usually about 82 degrees F, but last night it was up to 85 degrees, which was high enough to hamper my workout. I’m sensitive to cold and like it 80 or higher, but 85 is too high even for me. OTOH, one day last summer it was down to 75, and I’m happy to say that I survived okay.

~80. I have swam in an outdoor pool that had dropped to 70 due to a broken boiler. That pretty much sucked, the outside temp was in the 40s. Needless to say I cut my workout short that morning, thankfully the boiler was fixed that afternoon and all was good the next day. But I was seriously considering the wetsuit.

Same here. Actually here it’s 88-89 F year round. Great for the kids and ladies but not so great for swimming…

time to try that wetsuit!

I live in SoCal, outdoor pool 80 year round.

Not heated, so varies between approx 23deg in the middle of summer to approx 19 deg on closing day (ANZAC Day)

I don’t swim but my kids do. Pool varies from 67 to about 74 and only rarely will it get to 74. Mostly stays around 70 or lower. I don’t know how they stand it. Helps to be young.
