Ian Thorpe

Olympic Swimmer Hospitalized; May Lose Hand
Australian Olympic medalist Ian Thorpe was hospitalized due to a severe infection in his hand.
Whether the doctors treating Thorpe will be forced to amputate the swimmer’s hand, has yet to be determined.

I believe the infections (2) are in his shoulder and are being successfully treated with antibiotics --but it certainly looks like he will never swim competitively again - it’s been a tough year for Ian, who has always been one of my favorite swimmers to watch.

A one-handed Thorpe is still faster than 99.99999% of us on these here forum groups! Hopefully he recovers successfully.

To be forearmed is to be forewarned, when it comes to swimming against a gold medalist.

I was going to say, it would be like swimming while doing the “first drill”.

Still, with size 17 feet he probably could beat most of us with no hands.
