WTC might want to allow for more then 5mm of rubber for wetsuits this year
They are constrictors, not poisonous. 5mm of neoprene won’t really make a difference over the legal thickness.

I seriously f@cking hate you for posting this… I guess I better be ready to swim a sub-55 this year from fear… gonna be a slow first 20k on the bike.

Just to drive home the point…
They are also known as excellent swimmers — a frightening thought to Doyle, especially if he were to see one swim by while out fishing.

Didn’t take long to pull a big out of the lake…a little early this year though.
I seriously am scared to death of snakes… worst nightmare I’ve ever had was of snakes…
But also, this has been the best ongoing joke on ST for a couple years and will never grow tired of it.

I was swimming at my neighbors outdoor lap pool last summer when our YMCA was closed. At the end of the workout I saw something 30’ away… I thought “huh, I don’t remember a black hose pointed into the water:… crap that’s a 6’ long black rat snack.” Totally harmless, but it still made me decide that my workout was over or the afternoon.
Mind you, I and my neighbor are up on a bluff 200’ from the Mississippi river. I’ve seen, probably the same snake, along the retaining wall in my back yard before as well. No, I don’t go for OWS in the river. Probably cleaner than 1/2 the swim venues I’ve been to. So I guess I could, but I’d want a spotter in a kayak to go with me, or another person to swim with, and I don’t normally have one.
I can’t imagine a snake getting anywhere near 2000+ people swimming in a lake. Maybe it will attack the lead swim pack only.
