I have been waiting to see if there were going to be any discounts offered for the Vector pedals. Nothing on the internet. All of the local stores that offer discounts to the tri group exclude all Garmin products. REI has a 20% off deal for a single item with no exclusions for Garmin stuff. I save $340 on the Vectors. NICE! They were backordered, but for $340 I can wait a couple of days or weeks.
Thanks for pointing this out! I just put in an order for the vectors too. Hopefully the backorder won’t be too long.
That’s a good tip. If one isn’t interested in Vectors, REI also sells PowerTaps (online only).
curious as to the backorder, didnt think there was high demand for this item. but maybe its a REI stocking issue
I worked at REI years ago, for super low demand items like this it was easier to just order individual pieces from the manufacturer when someone wanted it, so likely it will never actually be “in stock.”
And all that may have changed and they’ve just run out or something.
FYI to all the REI guys who use the coupons I discovered a few other things.
Discounts work on such stuff as Thule, Yakima and Kuat (they do carry them too but my local stores don’t have them in stock but are special order). I was waiting for the 20% to buy the NV as the 20% did work but passed since I found a smoking deal on T2 on my local craiglist that was too good to pass up.
Also, for the REI-Outlet eligible coupons, if you order items on individual orders and place the orders successively right after another they will still work (even though they state only on 1 item). I just ordered 2 pairs of bike shorts, placed them on 2 different orders and was able to use the 20% coupon on both at the Outlet store. I always try to buy my bike clothes on clearance or sale whenever I buy them since they are not cheap. Did the same thing last year too and pickup up some cycling clothes along with a one-piece tri suit all for 20% off clearance.
As the OP posted, they do work on Garmin also so you can get a 510/810 or 310/910xt or any of the other stuff for the 20% off (as long as it isn’t on sale and is still regular price).

It doesnt work on most Garmin stuff. REI coupons almost always exclude “any item with GPS technology”. I just tried to by a Fenix2 and the coupon would not apply.

That sucks. The sales person last summer stated it work work at my local REI (she was probably mistaken then).
That is in interesting idea. It is probably a 50/50 chance that someone in the store may not realize that garmin fitness stuff is “GPS Technology”. I could easily see them interpreting it as actual navigation devices. I may try this weekend in a local store.
That sucks that you can use it on $1700 Garmin pedals but not a $500 Garmin 810.
That discount excludes Garmin. I just tried it and didn’t work on the vector. Anyone else was able to get it to work?
I didn’t actually order, but I logged in added to my cart (on backorder) added the code and it subtracted 20%. Basically got to the point where I saw prices for everything and it was time to put in my credit card info.

I was a little bummed to see they only have 32H hubs available, but I took solace in not feeling compelled to buy one.

The Vector does not use GPS technology. It’s just made by a company that’s known for GPS. So if they apply their rule by the letter, than it should be good.

Yes. I just tried it and it worked. Are you certain you used the “save20” code and logged in as a member?

Yeah, I don’t get it. I am guessing the Vectors are an oversight, so, if anyone is in the market, they need to jump on it.
I just used my dividend to purchase a Garmin Forerunner 620 and could not use the 20% discount code. But, that’s ok b/c I ordered some other stuff and used the code.
Sweet I have been debating these pedals or the Quarq. That just sealed the deal, Done saved $340 and free pickup at local store. Hopefully back order isn’t to long a wait.
You could also call up Ben at Velomine and ask what price he could do.
